Accenture MDR Quick Start Guide for Create a read-only database user with Windows AD Account for Microsoft SQL Server

This quick start guide will help Accenture MDR customers create a read-only database user with Windows AD Account for Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Create Windows AD Account for Microsoft SQL Server.

Create Windows AD Account for Microsoft SQL Server.

From Windows Domain Controller, create a standard user and note down the username and password. 

Note: While Creating a Domain User ensure that you deselect the User must change password at next logon option and select the Password never expires option.

 

  1. Open SQL Server Management Studio.

  2. Log in to the SQL Database with Admin privileges.

  3. Expand the Databases folder under Object Explorer.

  4. Expand the database in which you want to create the new database user.

  5. Right-click the Security folder, and then click New > Logins….

  6. In the Login- New dialog box, perform the following steps

  7. Under the General page, choose the Windows Authentication.

  8. In the User name box, select Windows user  from the User type list.

 Note: You can also click Search (…) to open the Select User or Group dialog box.

  9. In the Default database box, select the database to be read by this user.

10. In the User Mapping page, under Users mapped to this login, make sure that you have selected the database to read. 

11. Enable the  db_datareader checkbox in the Database role membership for Database.
