Accenture MDR Quick Start Guide for HPE Comware Switch
This quick start guide will help Accenture MDR customers configure HPE Comware Switch to send logs to the Log collection Platform (LCP).
This document includes the following topics:
Supported Versions
A list of supported versions is available in the Accenture MDR Supported Products List document (Accenture_MDR_Supported_Products_List.xlsx) which can be found in Accenture MDR Portal.
Port Requirements
Table 1-1: Port requirements for LCP communication.

Configuring HPE Comware Switch
Outputting log information to a log host:
Before the configuration, make sure that there is a route between Device and PC.
Follow below commands to configure device:
Switch to the system-view.
<Sysname> system-view
Note: These commands have to be executed in the “System View” mode (similar to Cisco’s privileged exec mode).
Enable information center.
info-center enable
Note: The info-center loghost command takes effect only after the information center is enabled by using info-center enable command.
In case of multiple log host make it synchronous.
info-center synchronous
Set timestamp format.
info-center timestamp loghost iso
Note: Possible date formats { date | iso [ with-timezone ] | no-year-date | none }
To display the source IP address in the log information, you can configure it by using below command.
info-center loghost source Vlan-interface990
Use info-center loghost to specify a log host and to configure output parameters.
info-center loghost [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name ] { hostname | ipv4-address | ipv6 ipv6-address } [ port port-number ] [ facility local-number ]
Note: vpn-instance vpn-instance-name: Specifies an MPLS L3VPN instance by its name, a case-sensitive string of 1 to 31 characters. If the log host is on the public network, do not specify this option.
hostname: Specifies a log host by its name, a case-insensitive string of 1 to 253 characters. The host name can contain letters, digits, and special characters including hyphen (-), underscore (_), and dot (.)
ipv4-address: Specifies a log host by its IPv4 address.
ipv6-address: Specifies a log host by its IPv6 address.
port port-number: Specifies the port number of the log host, in the range of 1 to 65535. The default is 514. It must be the same as the value configured on the log host. Otherwise, logs cannot be sent to the log host.
facility local-number: Specifies a logging facility from local0 to local7 for the log host. The default value is local7. Logging facilities are used to mark different logging sources, and query and filer logs.
Specifies a log severity level by its name.
info-center source SYSLOG loghost level informational
Note: All the logs with severity level informational and above will be forwarded.
Specifies the maximum number of log traps that can be stored in the log trap buffer. The value range is 0 to 65535. Value 0 indicates that the device does not buffer log traps.
info-center syslog trap buffersize 65535
LCP Configuration Parameters
Table 1-2: The HPE Comware Switch event collector (Syslog -3963) properties to be configured by Accenture are given in the table.
Property | Default Value | Description |
Protocol | UDP | The default protocol for syslog. The collector can also accept logs in TCP. Note: While TCP offers guaranteed delivery of log packets, it places a larger overhead on the LCP. To balance TCP for reliability over UDP for speed/simplicity, contact the Accenture Security Onboarding team. |
IP Address | * | Logging device IP address mentioned in the Pre-Installation Questionnaire (PIQ). Note: If the device sends logs using multiple interfaces, contact the Accenture Security Onboarding team. |
Signatures |
| Accenture Security recommended signatures processed by the HPE Comware Switch event collector. |
Port Number | 514 | The default port for UDP. For TCP, the default port is 601. Note: The LCP can be configured to listen on a non-standard port, please advise the Accenture Security Onboarding team if this is a requirement. |
