Accenture MDR Quick Start Guide for Deciso OPNsense

This quick start guide will help Accenture MDR customers configure Deciso OPNsense to send logs to the Log collection Platform (LCP).

Configuring Deciso OPNsense

Log in to OPNsense GUI with admin credentials. Change Local Log settings as guided below.

  1. Navigate to the Local Logging Options under System > Settings > Logging tab.

  2. Select/Tweak the following options on this page.

    1. Enable the Log packets matched from the default block rules put in the ruleset checkbox.

    2. Enable the Log packets matched from the default pass rules put in the ruleset checkbox.

    3. Enable the Log packets blocked by 'Block Bogon Networks' rules checkbox.

    4. Enable the Log packets blocked by 'Block Private Networks' rules checkbox.

  3. Click Save to store the new settings. 

Send Firewall logs to LCP by following the below steps.

  1. Navigate to Destinations tab from System > Settings > Logging/targets tab.

  2. Add New destination by clicking on symbol, it will redirect you on Edit Destination page.

  1. Select/Tweak the following options on this page.

    1. Enable the Enabled checkbox

    2. Select the TCP(4) or UDP(4) option from Transport field drop-down

    3. Select filter and firewall option from Applications field drop-down

    4. Select all levels except debug from Levels field drop-down

    5. Select all in Facilities.

    6. Enter the LCP IP address in the Hostname field.

    7. Enter the port 601 (if TCP selected as transport option) OR 514 (if TCP selected as transport option) in the Port field.

    8. Enable the rfc5424 checkbox

    9. Enter the useful description in the Description field.

  1. Click Save and then Apply the settings.

The signatures used by the LCP to collect the necessary log events from the logs generated by the device.

The default port for UDP.

Note: The LCP can be configured to listen on a non-standard port, please advise the MDR onboarding team if this is a requirement.
