Accenture MDR Quick Start Guide for Chakra Max™ Database Protection
This quick start guide will help Accenture MDR customers configure Chakra Max™ Database Protection to send logs to the Log collection Platform (LCP).
The document includes the following topics:
Supported Versions
A list of supported versions is available in the Accenture MDR Supported Products List document (Accenture_MDR_Supported_Products_List.xlsx) which can be found in Accenture MDR Portal.
Port Requirements
Table 1-1: Port requirements for LCP communication.
Source | Destination | Port | Description |
Chakra Max Database Protection | LCP | 514 (UDP) or 601 (TCP) | Default port |
Configuring Chakra Max Database Protection
To configure the Chakra Max Database Protection, follow the steps below.
Login to the Chakra Max Linux server using ssh session.
In a text editor, open /etc/syslog.conf
Locate the line "Don't log private authentication messages!" and type one of the following
To forward events using UDP with the default port: *.uucp;*.auth;*.local7@<lcp_ip_address>
To forward events using UDP with the custom port: *.uucp;*.auth;*.local7@<lcp_ip_address>:<port>
To forward events using TCP with the default port: *.uucp;*.auth;*.local7@@<lcp_ip_address>
To forward events using UDP with the custom port: *.uucp;*.auth;*.local7@@<lcp_ip_address>:<port>
4. Save the syslog.conf file and exit the text editor.
Note: For cgw, the supported facility is uucp and auth. For iProtector, the supported facility is local7. Set the severity level for both to Informational.
LCP Configuration Parameters
Table 1-2: The Chakra Max event collector (Syslog – 3693) properties to be configured by MDR are shown in the table.
Property | Default Value | Description |
Protocol | UDP | The default protocol for syslog. The LCP can also accept logs in TCP. Note: While TCP offers guaranteed delivery of log packets, it places a larger overhead on the LCP. To balance TCP for reliability over UDP for speed/simplicity, contact the MDR onboarding team. |
IP Address | Chakra Max Interface IP address | Logging device IP address mentioned in the Pre-Installation Questionnaire (PIQ). Note: If the device sends logs using multiple interfaces, contact the Accenture MDR onboarding team. |
Signatures | iProtector Alert, ChakraMax | MDR recommended signatures processed by the Chakra Max event collector. |
Port Number | 514 | The default port for syslog. For TCP, the default port is 601. Note: The LCP can be configured to listen on a non-standard port, please advise the MDR onboarding team if this is a requirement. |
