Accenture MDR Quick Start Guide for Symantec Endpoint Threat Defense for Active Directory (AD)

This quick start guide will help Accenture MDR customers configure Symantec Endpoint Threat Defense for AD devices to send logs to the Log collection Platform (LCP).

Ā Configuring Symantec Endpoint Threat Defense for AD Event

  1. Log in to Web UI

  2. Navigate to Settings > Notifications.

  3. Enable SymETDAD Syslog Forwarding as ONĀ .

4. Once enabled, click Add Forwarding to configure Syslog options.

5. Configure the syslog options as below

  • Select UDP or TCPĀ from the Protocol dropdown box.

  • Enter the LCP IP Address in Syslog Server IP box.

  • Enter the PortĀ Ā in Syslog Server PortĀ box

  • Click Add Syslog to save the changes.

The default protocol Ā for syslog.The collector can also accept logs inĀ TCP.

Note: While TCP offers guaranteed delivery of log packets, it places a larger overhead on the LCP. To balance TCP for reliability over UDP for speed/simplicity, contact the Accenture Security MSS onboarding team.

Symantec Endpoint Threat Defense for ADĀ interface IP address

Logging device IP address mentioned in the Pre-Installation Questionnaire (PIQ).

Note: If the device sends logs using multiple interfaces, contact the Accenture Security MSS onboarding team.

Port Number

514

The default port for UDP. For TCP, the default port is 601.

Note: The LCP can be configured to listen on a non-standard port, please advise the Accenture Security MSS onboarding team if this is a requirement.
