Accenture MDR Quick Start Guide for Symantec CASMA (Content and Malware Analysis)

This quick start guide will help Accenture MDR customers configure Symantec CASMA to send logs to the Log collection Platform (LCP).

 Configuring Symantec CASMA

  1. Log in to Symantec Content Analysis console 

  2. Navigate to Setting > Alerts > Syslog

  3. Enter the LCP  IP address or hostname in the Server textbox.

  4. Enter the Port number in the Port field.

  5. Select the Protocol and the Facility from the drop-down box

  6. Click Save Changes.​

You can set Content Analysis to generate alerts for the below events

Navigate to Settings  > Alert Location.

 Note: We are using the default Log format for Symantec CAS-MA. Changes in the alert message and variable keywords will not be acceptable. 

 LCP Configuration Parameters

Table 1-2: The Symantec CASMA event collector (Syslog - 3805) properties to be configured by MSS are given in table.

 The default protocol for syslog.

The collector can also accept logs in TCP.

Note: While TCP offers guaranteed delivery of log packets, it places a larger overhead on the LCP. To balance TCP for reliability over UDP for speed/simplicity, contact the Accenture Security MSS onboarding team.

IP Address

Content Analysis Appliance IP address.

Logging device IP address mentioned in the Pre-Installation Questionnaire (PIQ).

Note: If the device sends logs using multiple interfaces, contact the Accenture Security MSS onboarding team.

Signature

Virus/PUS,

avservice,

MA_tasks

MSS recommended signatures processed by the Symantec CASMA event collector.

Port Number

514

The default port number for syslog. 

Note: The LCP can be configured to listen on a non-standard port, please advise the Accenture Security MSS onboarding team if this is a requirement
