To facilitate secure communication and align with our best practice, we strongly encourage the use of Transport Layer Security (TLS) between your security devices and our Adaptive MxDR platform for event forwarding.
While we understand that TLS support may not be available on all devices, if your devices do support TLS communication, we recommend utilizing port 6514 for seamless integration.
In some cases, the upgraded version of the device might incorporate TLS support without prior notice. If you come across such a scenario or for further assistance in configuring TLS, we kindly ask you to reach out to your dedicated Adaptive MxDR Service Delivery Lead.
Device Configuration
Login into the Forcepoint NGFW.
Select Home.
Navigate to Others > Log Server.
Right-click Log Server, then select Properties.
Change the Log Server properties.
After the Changing Log Server Properties, provide values for following options:
a. Target Host -The Host element that represents the target host to which the log data is forwarded.
b. Service - Select TCP with TLS
c. Port - 6514. If you have to define an Access rule that allows traffic to the target host, make sure that the Port you select is also used as the Port in the Access rule.
d. Format - Select JSON Format
e. Data Type - The type of log data that is forwarded.
f. Filter (Optional) - An optional local filter that defines which log data is forwarded. The
local filter is only applied to the log data that matches the Log
Forwarding rule.
g. TLS Profile - Allows you to select a TLS Profile element that contains settings for cryptography, trusted certificate authorities, and the TLS version used in TLS-protected traffic. Double-click to open the Select Element dialog box. The TLS Profile is only available if you have selected TCP with TLS as the Service.
h. TLS Certificate Used for Forwarding Logs - Select the certificate for TLS-protected data forwarding.
Use Internal Certificate — A Management Server or Log Server certificate (signed by the Internal CA) is used for TLS-protected syslog communication.
Use Imported Certificate — A certificate signed by an external CA is used. Click Select to select a certificate or to create a TLS Credentials element.
7. Click OK.
