To facilitate secure communication and align with our best practice, we strongly encourage the use of Transport Layer Security (TLS) between your security devices and our Adaptive MxDR platform for event forwarding.
While we understand that TLS support may not be available on all devices, if your devices do support TLS communication, we recommend utilizing port 6514 for seamless integration.
In some cases, the upgraded version of the device might incorporate TLS support without prior notice. If you come across such a scenario or for further assistance in configuring TLS, we kindly ask you to reach out to your dedicated Adaptive MxDR Service Delivery Lead.
Device Configuration
Please find below steps to configure syslog server to forward events:
To Configure a new serverÂ
Sign in to the Trellix ePO platform with administrator permissions.
Click Menu and click Configuration > Registered Servers.
Click New Server.
On the Description page, configure these settings:
Server type — Select Syslog Server.
Name — Enter a unique name.
Click Next.
In Registered Server Builder, configure these settings:
Server name — Enter the IP address of CyberHub.
TCP port number — Enter 6514
Enable event forwarding — Select the checkbox.
Click Test connection.
Click Save.
Click Menu and click Configuration > Server Settings.
In Setting Categories, select Event Filtering.
Click Edit.
In Server Settings, configure these settings.
Select the events you want forwarded, either all or individual events.
To forward all available events, select All events to the server [recommended].
Select All and Deselect All are disabled when you select All events to the server.
To forward only the events you specified, select Only selected events to the server.
Select where you want the selected events stored.
Click Store selected in McAfee ePO — Store all selected events in the Trellix ePO - On-prem database.
Click Forward selected to syslog — Forward all selected events to syslog.
Click Store selected in both [recommended] — Store all selected events in both the Trellix ePO - On-prem and forward to syslog. This is the default setting.
Select event source.
Events from any source [recommended] — Any source includes the Trellix Agent, Trellix ePO - On-prem, and more.
Events that were generated by the sending agent — Only events generated by the Trellix Agent.
Click Save.
