Device Configuration

Device Configuration for Symantec VIP Version 9.4 and above

You can configure VIP Enterprise Gateway to send log messages to your syslog daemon.

To configure syslog settings

  1. Navigate to Logs > Syslog Configuration to access the Syslog Configuration page.

  2. Set the appropriate facility level for logging, select local0.

  3. Enter the host name or the IP address (in IPv4 format) of the system that runs the syslog daemon.

  4. Enter the port number to which the service listens. The default port number is 514.

  5. Click Save to save the configuration settings.

To enable Logging for multiple logs

  1. To enable Logs Forwarding for Validation Server Events

a. Open the VIP Enterprise Gateway console.

b. Click Validation.

c. Edit configured Validation Server.

d. Select Yes to enable syslog.

e. Click Submit.

  1. To enable Logs Forwarding for VIP EG Console Events

a. Open the VIP Enterprise Gateway console.

b. Click Settings.

c. Select Console Setting.

d. Type the Port number.

e. Select Logging Level and Log Rotation Level.

f. Select Yes to enable syslog.

g. Select the Protocol.

h. Click Submit.

  1. To enable Logs Forwarding for Self Service Portal Events

a. Open the VIP Enterprise Gateway console.

b. Click Identity Providers.

c. Open the Self Service Portal IdP Configuration.

d. Edit configured Self Service Portal.

e. Select Yes to enable syslog.

f. Click Submit.

a. Open the VIP Enterprise Gateway console.

b. Click Identity Providers.

c. Open VIP Manager.

d. Edit configured VIP Manager.

e. Select Yes to enable syslog.

a. Open the VIP Enterprise Gateway console.

c. Open LDAP Sync.

d. Edit configured LDAP Sync.
