About the Device

 I-filter is web-proxy software which monitors web traffic originated from a web browser and applies configured policies to generate appropriate response. I-filter software can be installed on any windows machine and a conf URL (management console) also gets installed with it to configure and maintain comprehensive list of categories, user agent header, MIME type, SSL decoding and much more. It allows administrator to apply policies/rule parts/advanced settings based on the user groups. The communication between proxy server and management console can also be made SSL encrypted by importing necessary certificate and private key information.

Device Configuration

In order to configure the I-Filter proxy software to collect logs in a log file please follow below steps:

A. Configure Log Settings /Access Log (For DigitalArts iFilter on Windows Machine):

  1. Login to http://inetnf.conf/ as an Administrator.

  2. On the i-Filter Proxy Server Web Console, go to System Setting > Log Settings.

  3. In the Access Log section, specify the following values and click the Save button from the right top corner.

    1. Output Methods: "I-FILTER" standard format

    2. Output path: logs/access.log

Keep other default settings unchanged or reset according to your requirements.

B. Configure Log Settings /Access Log (For DigitalArts iFilter on Linux Machine):

  1. Login to http://inetnf.conf/ as an Administrator.

  2. On the i-Filter Proxy Server Web Console, go to System Setting > Log Settings.

  3. In the Access Log section, specify the following values and click the Save button from the right top corner.

    1. Output Methods: "I-FILTER" standard format

    2. Output path: logs/access.log

Keep other default settings unchanged or reset according to your requirements.

C. Configure Log Settings /Access Log (For DigitalArts iFilter version 10 Device):

  1. Login to i-Filter Proxy Server Web Consolego to System > Log > Access Log Setting.

  2. In Log Settings, Enable the Include Format

3.Navigate to Format Settings and select the Default format.

  1. Confirm and Save the settings.

  2. Restart the device to reflect the changes done by you.

D. Configuring Log Settings /Block log/POST log/Config Change History Log/By process execution log:

 Please note that we are pulling all major web traffic logs from access log file. You can configure the log settings according to your requirement as it would not affect collection procedure of the web traffic logs. Block logs are also collected in Access log as standard format. The rest of the logs are system related and of  less importance in a web traffic environment.  The same can be configured and accessed from the configured paths. 

Recommended: Please keep the path value same as default for log storage

Steps to configure Windows NxLog Agent for TLS TCP Log flow on port 10014

    1. Download and Install NxLog agent from location Download
    2. Navigate to services.msc and stop the nxlog service.
    3. For TLS, need to create certificate file for communication. On CyberHub ,Go to support user mode and choose option 11: 11)  View Certificate to export for FTPS and TCP

  1. Copy paste the certificate to new file and save this file into DNS server at desired location.

  2. Navigate to folder C:\Program Files (x86)\nxlog\data and delete configcache.dat.

  3. For Windows Agent , go to installed location C:\Program Files (x86)\nxlog\conf and rename the attached to  nxlog.conf and copy into this folder.

  4. Replace “lcpip” with “CyberHub IP address” in nxlog.conf.

  5. I-Filter Web Proxy Log (access.log) location needs to be mentioned on line 31 against "File".

  6. Add CAFile location at position 44

  7. Now start the nxlog service from services.msc.

  8. NxLog agent logs will be available at location C:\Program Files (x86)\nxlog\data\nxlog.log.
